  • Artist: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (French, 1864-1901)

French painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator. His main sources of inspiration was the decadent and theatrical life of Paris. Born from an aristocratic family, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec suffered from various health problems, the results of generations of inbreeding, that limited him from pursuing the active life of modern Parisian men. Post-Impressionist painter, art nouveau illustrator, and lithographer, and recorded in his works the details of the late 19th century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Toulouse-Lautrec also contributed a illustrations to the magazine Le Rire during the mid-1890s.
