  • Artist: Gene Davis (American, 1920-1985)

American abstract painter. Davis worked as a sportswriter and White House Correspondent before pursuing art, never having formal training. "Davis considered his non academic background a blessing that freed him from the limitations of a traditional art school orientation." He played important role in color abstraction movement and helped to establish Washington, D.C. as a center for contemporary art.
