Artist: Emilio Pucci (Italian, 1914-1992)
Italian fashion designer. Born to one of the most well-respected families in Florence, Pucci became a fashion phenomenon after having been a ski instructor. Pucci's career started in 1947 when Harper’s Bazaar took note of and photographed a ski outfit he designed for himself. He set up a boutique on the Capri island and started exhibiting collections internationally in 1951. Pucci offered a holistic design vision and developed signature prints during the 50’s. He drew inspiration from Mediterranean landscapes and other places to create a bright, sophisticated color palette. His works are thought to have initiated a turning point in Italy’s luxury sportswear.
