Artist: Edgar Buonagurio (American, b. 1946)
American painter and muralist. Buonagurio's work is abstract and described as a vehicle for personal metaphor. His process is invented and idiosyncratic method - employing industrial sanders to grind through systematically applied layers of acrylic paint. This process parallels the "natural energies" of growth and decay by unearthing structured, meditative works. This evokes "pan-cultural and trans-historical realities." He has had many solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States as well as in Denmark and Switzerland.
