  • Artist: Duane Michals (American, b. 1923)

American photographer. Michals received a BA from the University of Denver (1953), spent two years in the army, and then studied at the Parsons School of Design (1956). Much of his work addresses gay themes. He is noted for two particular innovations in photography: story-telling through the photo sequence and handwriting texts near his photographs.
