Artist: Donna Ferrato (American, b. 1949)
American photojournalist and photographer, known for her images that document domestic violence. She also works as an activist, launching I Am Unbeatable, a campaign to prevent domestic violence. After graduating from the Laurel School in Cleveland, Ohio, Ferrato began work as a freelance journalist in 1976. Her photographs have been recognized in news publications, including Life, The New York Times Magazine, Time, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times, among others. Her work has also been exhibited in numerous solo exhibitions in museums worldwide. She is the recipient of multiple awards, including the W. Eugene Smith Grant (1985), the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Outstanding Coverage of the Plight of the Disadvantaged (1987), the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award (1993), as well as Artist of the Year at the Tribeca Film Festival (2008). Published books of her photographs include Living With the Enemy (1991) and Holy (2020).
