Artist: Diana Al-Hadid (Syrian-American, b. 1981)
Syrian-American sculptor and draftsperson, Diane Al-Hadid was born in Syria. She received her BFA in Sculpture and BA in Art History from Kent State University, OH (2003), her MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University (2005), and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2007). She works primarily in sculpture, and her works are often monochromatic and large in scale. Characterized by an archeological quality, her works comment on interwoven layers of history, and the act of unearthing the past. She is currently working in Brooklyn.
