Artist: David Solot (French, 1909-1985)
French painter. Inspired by and incorporated tools of his professional occupation as dentist into his stimulating visual imagery. Utilized dental forceps, molars, and other instruments to construct his subject matter, and did so in a surrealist style. While a prisoner of war in a camp in Pithiviers, France, Solot met a group of artists who helped him to discover his latent passion of painting. Once returning home, Dr. Solot continued his profession as a dentist, and engaged with painting as leisure.
