  • Artist: Anne Kesler Shields (American, 1932-2012)

American printmaker and muralist. Main motif in her work is change, from abstract expressionism, the study of color and patterns, to minimalism in her printmaking, to painterly realism, and back again to still images appropriated from photographs and ads in popular magazines. Her works attempt to make sense of the visual clutter that surrounds us by combining them with images from art history—to find the constant amidst the change.
