Artist: Adriaen van Ostade (Dutch, 1610-1685)
Adriaen van Ostade (1610–1685) was a Dutch painter who studied with Frans Hals and was early influenced by Adriaen Brouwer. His body of work includes approximately 800 paintings, 50 etchings, and numerous drawings. Van Ostade specialized in genre paintings but also created some portraits and history paintings. He was a member and administrator of the Haarlem Saint Luke Guild, serving as Hooftman in 1647 and 1661, and as Deken in 1662. Additionally, he was a member of the Oude Schuts civic guard company.
