Tamar Ettun uses performance and sculpture to reflect on the contrasts of life and death, trauma and healing, movement and stillness. This video is part of a recent series of artworks in which she updates the ancient practice of creating spells and talismans—particularly the protective Middle Eastern artifacts known as “incantation bowls”—to trap demons. Here the demons are personal stresses that would benefit from attention, care, and understanding.
