Artist statement:
The Tiffany styled lamp represents “things of the earth – both natural and representative of man’s settlement of the Avi Kwa Ame landscape.” It was made using copper foil wrapped around the edges of each piece and then soldered together using a soldering iron. Patina was used to blacken the solder and a grinder to smooth some of the rough edges. The materials used were: Smoky Quartz; Quartz Crystals; Rose Quartz; Amethyst; Occo Agate; Opal; Carnelian ; Citrine (several types); Fluorite; Cut polished Agate slices; Adventurine; Labradorite; Turquoise; broken weathered bottle glass (green, brown, purple, white) from mine sites; bottom of historic pill box and jewelry box; piece of historic electric line insulator and glass from historic window pane.
