Images illustrate scenes from the narrative below them. All the people in the story are represented by skeletons. On the left is the cook with a table of calavera candy and a small child at the end of the table. Center is Tio Juan sitting up in his coffin. Juan is facing right, where there are groups of angry figures reenacting his vices. Below the images is the narrative of what occurred at Juan's wake. There's a decorative border around the entire composition that also eludes to elements in the narrative.
