Serving as an academic environment for the critical analysis of visual art in southern New Mexico.
MessageMexican-American artist, Analinda Gonzalez, is noted for producing realistic drawings and paintings as well as photography concerning the personal impact of socio-political issues, specifically those of immigration and feminism. Gonzalez creates work that primarily concerns her father’s unjust deportation to Mexico and how it has affected her family. She predominantly uses pastels, colored pencils and acrylic paint to produce life-size and smaller scaled work. Understanding how contentious these issues are, Gonzalez chooses not to directly comment on the political aspects of these subjects, but rather bring awareness to prevalent issues through a personal lens as a means of addressing our collective human struggle for recognition, dignity and acceptance.
