I have been making calligraphy art since I was a child. This is one of the best-loved Chinese poems. It was written by ZHANG Ji 张继 , who was a Chinese poet born in Xiangyang during theTang Dynasty (~713 AD) in ancient China. Below is the translation by Burton Watson 译. – Tracy Cui
Tying Up for the Night Near Maple River Bridge by Zhang Ji 张继
Moon setting, crows cawing, frost filling the sky,
through river maples, fishermen’s flares confront my uneasy eyes.
Outside Gusu City, Cold Mountain Temple —
late at night the sound of its bell reaches a traveller’s boat.
