Gifts of Art presents The Call of Summer: Metalsmithing by Michigan Silversmiths Guild
- December 18, 2025 - February 27, 2026
Founded in 1948, the Michigan Silversmiths Guild is a community of craftspersons dedicated to the fields of metalsmithing and jewelry. The Guild serves to support the advancement of its members by hosting workshops, sponsoring lectures, and awarding scholarships to students in metalsmithing programs across the region. The work made by Guild members reflects the broadness of the fields of metalsmithing and jewelry, and includes wearable forms, objects of utility, and sculptural compositions. This exhibition celebrates the uniqueness of Guild members and the solidarity of the community.
All current members were invited to submit their best summer-themed works for inclusion in The Call of Summer, a group exhibition. Submissions could include pieces featuring bright, dazzling gemstones as well as works that capture the emotional essence of summer, such as the long days, radiant sunlight, and vibrant greens of the season, as well as memories captured. This theme was chosen to bring light and joy to the viewers during the winter months and remind them of summer's warmth and vitality.
