Gifts of Art presents Heroines: Bronze Sculpture by Laura Testé
- March 11, 2024 - May 31, 2024
It’s a rare opportunity to see a dozen bronze sculptures outside a museum. This exhibition by Laura Testé showcases a vibrancy in bronze previously known only to niche collectors. Figures on display are from several of Laura's most recent sculptural series including Vim & Vigor, Unconditional, Sea Sisters, and About Time. Heroines patently demonstrates how bronze begets grace. Created through the lost wax cast method, the details of fabric folds or muscles simply need to be encountered in the flesh. This show, beyond being beautiful and inspiring, moves the viewer to simply pause and breathe.
Laura Testé lives and creates in Southeast Michigan using local foundries. Previously an engineer who did art on the side, she is now an artist who does engineering on the side. She credits her figures’ inner strength to the years of rowing on the San Francisco Bay with the Stanford Crew Team. Her award-winning work is displayed in Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, and France.
