Skyler McGee is an indirect storyteller. She is ever combining images from her world: plants and animals, buttons and bones, maps and coffee mugs. Her work celebrates the textures of the human experience, with all its complexity, joy, grit, and places of difficulty. Her work is created from encaustic materials (painting with hot wax). She works in southern Illinois where she lives in a big, drafty farmhouse, enjoying dark chocolate and bluesy jazz.
