Maggie Bandstra creates her floral paintings in bright colors to evoke upbeat feelings of love and healing energy. She uses abstracted forms found in the foliage and finds shapes and symbols in the repetitious layers and patterns. Bandstra paints in oil on canvas, and she uses a multimedia technique with layers of dye, acrylic, and oil that she created while experimenting in her studio. These layers symbolize the layered relationships we have in our lives.
