"My work explores the fluidity of identity, particularly in regards to gender performance and presentation. I focus on societal constructs and the impossible expectations they place on us. I delve into themes of childhood, queer theory, post-structuralism, and abstraction to examine the layered and multifaceted aspects of the self.
‘Unisex Ware’ is a body of work that fits seamlessly into my larger artistic practice. It challenges traditional gender norms and the societal constructs that perpetuate them, through the creation of slip-cast ceramic ware from digital models and 3D prints. Referencing Memphis Design and utilizing candy-coated aesthetic, the subversiveness of the work invites viewers to engage. The title, which is a play on the word ""wear"", points to the ridiculousness of gendered objects.
This exploration of material culture is done through the lens of queer theory, allowing me to delve into philosophy, language, and societal norms in a playful yet critical manner."
