Artist Statement
'Serenade'
There’s something quietly timeless, a gentle conversation between the past and present.
The handwritten script is my own, which I created into a solar etching. It's a small homage to the early botanical artists who so carefully documented the natural world. Their works carried both science and wonder, and I’m drawn to that intersection of observation and feeling.
The softly faded banksia holds a similar echo. It nods to those aged paper drawings we find in old books, where time has settled into the fibres, and the image feels all the more precious for it.
And then, the wren who is watchful and alive, bringing us back into the present moment.
It’s a piece about memory, reverence, and the enduring beauty of the natural world.
