Afternoon Light at Whippoorwill Farm is and will always be one of my favorite paintings. This painting showcases the view of my very special great-great aunt’s backyard in Blount County ,Alabama where she and her late husband lived for over fifty years. This painting started out as a white canvas and I went in with paint that was very thin and sketched it out. After I got everything blocked in I went in and added details with my long flat and filbert brushes in many sizes. I am very happy with the broken color and light that I was able to show in this painting. Doing broken color like that allowed me to broaden my horizons when it came to mixing colors.
