Japanese black and vermillion sumi ink on fully ripe Xuan paper.
This piece was completed on May 03, 2023, the birthday of His Holiness Tashi Gyaltsan Rinpoche.
Large Black text is written in Tsugring script reading "Happy Birthday to the Living Buddha, Tashi Gyaltsan Rinpoche."
The smaller orange-earth pigment text is a prayer for the flourishing of the Jonangpa, of which Rinpoche is a throne holder of the Jonang lineage and reincarnation of the Jonang master Jestun Taranantha, referenced in the second to last line of this text. This is written in Petsug script.
“The great driver of the supreme vehicle of Madyamika, the teachings of definitive meaning
The Dharma King, Jonangpa
Of his tradition of lineage holders,
The most important are the countless number of great scholars and mahasiddhis
Among these, Drolvi Gongpo, in particular, is the master of Tantra
May his teaching flourish forever!”
