Artist: Mia Larocque (American, b. 1959)
Bio from her LinkedIn page (NOTE the link to her website doesn't work):
Mentored by my mother, Louise Serpa, I strive for perfection and integrity. I plan to continue her legacy by staying involved with the rodeo and photographing/documenting historic moments and the beauty the world has to offer.
February 3, 2014 I was issued my PRCA Photographers permit towards receiving my permanent membership card. My mother was the first woman to have these credentials in 1962. I will be shooting several rodeos and exhibiting my work and the work of my mother's in various galleries and museums in the state of Arizona in an ongoing effort to continue my mother's legacy and promote the sport of rodeo.
This year I have photographed Tucson, Scottsdale, Payson (Gary Hardt Memorial) and Prescott's PRCA rodeos along with the Cowpuncher's Reunion rodeo in Williams. I will also be shooting Payson's other PRCA rodeo held in August, fulfilling my permit requirements. I plan to continue shooting Tucson and the Payson rodeos and hope to be invited back to Prescott and the Cowpuncher's Reunion year after year.
My annual exhibits include "Trappings of the American West" and "Cowgirls With A Camera". Check my website at www.MiaLarocquePhotos.com or facebook at Louise L Serpa Official for additional information about my work and exhibits and lectures regarding my mother's work.
