Peter Hurd was N.C. Wyeth’s assistant. He married Henriette Wyeth, sister to Andrew, in 1929 and the couple eventually settled in the Hondo Valley, NM. This lithograph, printed by the New York Graphic Society in 1958, was created during a prolific time in the artist's career when he was involved in more than just visual art. In 1957, he collaborated with Folkways Records and released an album of ranching songs titled Spanish Folk Songs of New Mexico; in 1959, President Eisenhower appointed Hurd to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts where he served until 1963.
