Fritz Scholder is known for his sometimes controversial portrayal of Native Americans (the artist is one-quarter Luseino, a California Mission tribe, although he did not grow up as an Indian). But his career explored a wide range of subjects and continents, with significant work done overseas in Egypt and Spain. This etching, printed at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, is an extension of lithographs he created at Ediciones Poligrafa in Barcelona.
