Born and raised in Tampico, Mexico, Luis Sottil studies the natural world and recreates the way it feels (not necessarily the way it looks). Using pigments he derives directly from flora and fauna, he makes his own paints; and the resulting colors are unusually vibrant and enduring. He calls his style "Naturalismo."

Sottil is the first Latin American artist to be invited by the Walt Disney Corporation to become an official Disney fine artist.
