Local artist Sylvia Garland loves to work in monotype, a one-shot print that is similar to painting. Garland creates her beautiful work by inking a plexiglass plate with sticky printing ink, then drawing or scratching into the surface, and sometimes embellishing the surface with natural materials. The monotype is then produced by putting a piece of paper over it and running it through a printing press.
