I have been creating art in one form or another since grade school. I studied Architecture for two years at Arizona State and later switched to Anthropology.

You might say I am self taught but I was always alert for ideas about making good art. I have read and taught Art History for most of my life, concentrating in later years on Native American art forms.

Jernigan is considered an expert on Native American pottery and other art forms.
