Lorraine Sack, born 1966, grew up on a farm on the plains of southern Minnesota. Ever since she can remember she loved bright colors, coloring and story books with beautiful illustrations. Her mom started her on the creative path by playing drawing games that used shapes to spark her imagination. Her awareness of art grew when introduced to prints of famous artworks in her 3rd grade classroom. But it wasn’t until she attended a lecture at Atelier Lack Fine Art School and was halfway through a college degree in social work that she realized she had to change directions and become an artist.

The school, with its direct lineage to the 19th Century French Academies and the Boston School of Art, was a perfect foundation for Lorraine to explore her love of color while developing her innate drawing skills. The 4 years of training focused on the fine art of seeing nature truthfully. Lorraine not only discovered her desire to be an artist at this time, but also met her husband, Bob. Their shared journey brought them northern California and central Indiana, in close proximity to the San Francisco and Chicago art worlds where she showed her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

Lorraine’s artistic vision continually expands as does the recognition for her work. She is honored with awards from The Butler Institute of American Art, The California Art Club, The Pastel Society of the West Coast, Lexington Art League, and The Hoosier Salon. Lorraine’s work has been published in Southwest Art Magazine, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, American Artist, and The Artist Magazine. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections, nationally and internationally. Lorraine, her husband, 2 cats, and a desert tortoise have made their home in Tucson, Arizona where the pure blue skies nurture the creative process daily.
