Changing environmental protection policies, deforestation, fracking, global warming are some of the current issues we are facing. The dripping flowers represent our fragile planet.
This is a continuation of the series Urban Flora, inspired both by Warhol's work and by the oasis that NYC parks provide against the urban backdrop of fragmented skyscrapers. The Celandine Poppy is on the endangered species list in Canada and classified as “imperiled” or “rare” in several U.S. states. The artwork is designed on a grid of 8 panels that work well individually as well as in a vertical or horizontal orientation with or without spacing in between. The panels represent urban living, building windows. Comes ready to hang on heavy-duty stretched canvas. Polyptych - individual panels available on request
Middle English celidoine, Old French celidoine, French chélidoine, from Latin chelīdonia, from chelīdonius (“relating to the swallow”), from Ancient Greek χελιδόνιος (khelidónios), χελιδών (khelidṓn). It was traditionally supposed to flower when the swallows appeared, and to perish when they departed.
