The Rooster symbolizes Pride, Honesty, Courage, Strength and is from the series of Lucky Animals called "Elephant in the Room".
The series keeps expending and I am thrilled to learn the symbolism attributed to different animals in different cultures. The ancient Greeks believed the Rooster rose to attention and saluted the sun every morning symbolizing victory over night. As such, the Rooster was considered a solar emblem to the Greeks. One of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, the Rooster is a Chinese symbol of honesty, as well as physical and moral fortitude. It is of the yang attribute and signifies fortune, luck, fidelity, protection.
Artistically, I am intrigued by the possibilities and the different directions this is taking me. This piece is a tribute to Andy Warhol and his iconic Campbell Soup art. Done in street art fashion, with acrylic and spray paint on stretched canvas. Ready to hang.
