The Rooster symbolizes Pride, Honesty, Courage, Strength and is from the series of Lucky Animals called "Elephant in the Room".
The series keeps expending and I am thrilled to learn the symbolism attributed to different animals in different cultures. The ancient Greeks believed the Rooster rose to attention and saluted the sun every morning symbolizing victory over night. As such, the Rooster was considered a solar emblem to the Greeks. One of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, the Rooster is a Chinese symbol of honesty, as well as physical and moral fortitude. It is of the yang attribute and signifies fortune, luck, fidelity, protection.
Artistically, I am intrigued by the possibilities and the different directions this is taking me.Adding pop culture to the mix by referencing famous artists as a dream. Here my rooster is dreaming of Andy Warhol's famous Campbell Soup Can - and is fuming over the Chicken Noodle flavor.
