The lockdown due to the pandemic has resulted in a reevaluation of everything. The artist is embracing the isolation as a means to get more intimate with her own thoughts and desires. The work explores recurring layers of memory and reflections on time while engaging the viewer in a playful array of color and shape, allowing for their own particular associations to come through. Here she is using heavy textured brushstrokes and movement to recreate the memory of a spring moment, a lily pad pond at a childhood favorite spot at Diomedes Botanical Gardens in Athens. Just like a fragmented distant memory is vague and abstract, so is this work. Gesso and acrylic on canvas with painted sides for a finished look. Heavy 3D sculpted textured is characteristic of this piece. Varnished. 16" round. Ready to hang on stretched canvas.
