The name derives from the Greek chryos meaning gold (after its original color) and anthemon meaning flower "The Golden Flower". It is a symbol of optimism and joy. In the United States, chrysanthemums symbolize friendship, happiness, and well-being. They are often tied to the arrival of autumn since they are one of the most popular fall flowers. It's the official flower of Chicago . While in Japan, they have a “Festival of Happiness” celebrated annually for it and consider it a symbol of the sun. They remind me of fireworks.
