'Scorpio' was inspired by the beauty of the place and of the model. Her skirt is the perfect foil for the earth and it is complemented by the colors of the fall trees. Matisse's muse Zorah comes to mind when you look at this piece, and although not directly inspired by Matisse, this piece with its clear blue sky it hints at his art from Morocco. There is a snake slithering up a tree which symbolizes Scorpio and the symbol for the sign is there as well.
