I love my public library. Especially when they have a ‘fill a bag’ for $5. I am able to pick up some amazing non-fiction books about Australia and other places around the globe. The visual inspiration for ‘Mount Field National Park’ was from one of these books. Whilst my painting is not a realistic representation, the shapes and textures are taken from this alpine Tasmanian landscape. The flowing lines at the bottom capture the movement of the rock pool, the vertical lines are the bare trees and the musty purples at the top are the mists over the top of the mountain.
