Skookum dolls were mass-produced, Native American-themed souvenir dolls created by Mary McAboy in 1913, though they are not authentic Indigenous-made dolls. Initially made with dried apple heads and stuffed bodies, they transitioned to composition heads around 1920 and later to plastic parts. The "Skookum" name is a Chinuk Wawa word for "strong" or "excellent".
