Roseville Pottery was founded in 1890 in Roseville, Ohio, and later moved its main operations to Zanesville, Ohio, where it produced both utilitarian wares and highly collectible art pottery until closing in 1954. The company gained popularity by creating distinct lines like Rozane in 1900 to compete in the art pottery market and later, under the direction of Frank Ferrell, introduced successful patterns like Pinecone in 1935, which is considered the company's most successful line. Production of new pieces stopped after the company closed in 1954, although its name and trademarks were later acquired by another company in 2017, which produces a new line of Roseville pottery.
