Blue Danube is a dinnerware pattern created in Japan in 1951 by the importer Lipper International, drawing its inspiration from the German Meissen Blue Onion pattern. This pattern, in turn, was inspired by ancient Chinese porcelain designs. The dishes feature blue floral motifs on a white porcelain background, were popular in the U.S., and are still sought after by collectors today.
