  • Artist: Sir Frederick John Owen Evans

Panoramic view of the Milford Sounds with survey ship H.M.S Acheron on the far right, near Bowen Falls, and a group of Māori on the shore. 1/3000 Print

Has previously been attributed to W.J.W Hamilton and to John Lord Stokes. However comparison with the style of watercolours known to be Evans held at the National Maritime Museum (Greenwich) and the Hydrographer of the Navy (Taunton) strongly suggest an attribution to Evans.

Reproduced in 1983 as one of the Turnbull Library Prints. the painting was not, at that stage, attributed to Evans and was published as ‘Artist Unknown’
