Work Destroyed
This Moment, 2009, acrylic and colored pencil on walls, dimensions variable (destroyed)
This Moment was a site-specific painting installation made at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery in 2009. It was part of my solo exhibition, "Right Now, This Moment" and was made in the vault project space in the gallery over the course of the month-long exhibition. The genesis of this idea came from wanting to bring a bit of my studio practice into the public eye by making this piece on-site, allowing visitors a glimpse of art in progress. Also, it meant that people would only experience the evolution of the work in small chunks when they visited as I was working. Otherwise, they only saw the final state once I was done. This set the stage for subsequent temporary site-specific installations.
I made the piece in my spare time before and after work and on my days off.
