Small portrait of a "Girl in Purple" is a study in oil that felt very expressive to me while also being a strong interpretation. I love using powerful and vivid colors like pinks and purples to capture the spirit of a pose and the essence of a person with their many facets. Colors and chakra's are one perspective I tap into while painting. Purple or violet is the color of the crown chakra and this girl's portrait can be interpreted as being one who is wise and connected strongly to source. Deep in thought and reflective or even meditative is how she feels to me. The aqua near her throat and the background can be thought of as an expression of the throat chakra. This can represent her sacred voice and communication in general. It can be said that what we speak is what we create, the power of the voice is our bridge to the divine and how we communicate our truth. This can also represent how her voice is being carried up to the Universe where her prayers are answered.
