An open field dotted with pine trees and a covey of quail in the foreground. The horizon extends in the upper right side of the composition. The horizon line is broken by a diagonal that appears to come from the left back of the painting towards us, bringing the quail into view directly in front of the viewer. In a linen mat and a wooden and gesso frame with a central light colored border lined with beading and acanthus leaf decoration.
