View from the Lower Field

This little study is from the Lower Field of a family friend's farm. We visited the upper field for the view and on the way down this stand of trees really caught my eye. The stark white of the birch with the glowing yellow foliage and colorful grass in the foreground set up this piece nicely. I did this study, as a finished painting, in consideration of doing a larger work down the road. Not all small paintings work well as a larger painting, but this one just might. It's on the list.
