Moorefields was the summer home to Alfred Moore, a Revolutionary War military leader, UNC founder, and US Supreme Court judge. A later resident of the home, artist and French professor Edward Draper-Savage, placed the home on the National Register of Historic Places. Currently Moorefields, including 70 acres of gardens, woodland, and pasture, is managed by the Moorefields Foundation and Friends of Moorefields.
