Artist Statement ~ Finding Light
"This series explores the duality of the Human Experience; The weight of existence, and the persistent search for light. It is a study in the undulant, but undying quest for purpose and fulfillment. It does not deny the darkness, but acknowledges it. Confronting it, while seeking the glimmers that illuminate our path forward. At times, that path is bathed in a warm glow, unfettered by burden…at times it is dark and painful to navigate. Each layer of wax represents the tension between the two forces in various ways, and ultimately gives life to the painting. This work is testament to the enduring power of the human spirit to find light even under immense pressure."
