Inspired by the cascade of poppies tumbling over the wall in front of the historic Masonic Lodge on King Street in Hillsborough, one of several Hillsborough locations where poppies were planted by the Hillsborough Garden Club in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of World War I. The annual return of these poppies is much celebrated, especially by local folks who pass by this spot on King Street, just two doors away from the Thomas Stevens Gallery.
