Kate Rusek and Colleen RJC Bratton integrate the passage of time as a primary medium in their work. In the paired exhibition, they present temporal site-specific installations, high res documentation photography, and porcelain sculpture. A sense of deep time, tuned to the rhythms of the seasons and growth cycles, centers their artistic practices. Bratton’s sculptural pieces made of found materials will evaporate, disintegrate, curl and pop as the temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment changes. Rusek’s detailed porcelain sculptures are formed through direct integration of accumuated textile scraps and other waste materials that burn away in the kiln, leaving hollow forms reminiscent of organic life. Through destruction, decay, and regeneration, each artist taps into cycles of the earth and timescales beyond social construction.
