Item description: An artistic subversion of The Mansion of Happiness, a 19th century children's board game inspired by Christian morality. In the game, which was first published in 1800, players wind around a track depicting virtues and vices with their goal to reach the " Mansion of Happiness" at the end. While the painting doesn't feature individual game squares, it has a starting point and a guiding line around which a series of disparate images and situations confront the "player."
